BOOKS
|
I am reading books about the Hunza. The Hunza live in the northern areas of Pakistan at the foot of the Himalayas. At one point, the Hunzas were reputed as having almost no diseases and no cases of cancer. Their diet consisted of almost exclusively of vegetarian fare of which apricots and apricot pits played an important role. These books are all out of print, but can still be found in used bookstores and on the internet.
In addition, Cancer Monthly published a book written by a remarkable cancer survivor - Paul Kraus. Paul was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 1997 and basically sent home to get his affairs in order. Conventional medicine had nothing much to offer him so, rather than giving up, he created his own path to healing. As a result he healed his cancer and continues to enjoy a good quality of life. His book "Surviving Mesothelioma and Other Cancers: A Patient's Guide" describes what he did. More information is available at the website Surviving Mesothelioma

ABOUT ME
|
After I lost my son to brain cancer (medulloblastoma), my main interests have included learning all I can about cancer and cancer treatments, and building helpful resources for patients and their families.
I realized that cancer patients need other patients for emotional and mental support, but also as a source of information, referrals, and resources. Every patient has something valuable to share. This community was designed to help make that sharing easier.
The organization that I manage Cancer Monthly provides a number of cancer resources.
