I am reading books about the Hunza. The Hunza live in the northern areas of Pakistan at the foot of the Himalayas. At one point, the Hunzas were reputed as having almost no diseases and no cases of cancer. Their diet consisted of almost exclusively of vegetarian fare of which apricots and apricot pits played an important role. These books are all out of print, but can still be found in used bookstores and on the internet.

In addition, Cancer Monthly published a book written by a remarkable cancer survivor - Paul Kraus. Paul was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 1997 and basically sent home to get his affairs in order. Conventional medicine had nothing much to offer him so, rather than giving up, he created his own path to healing. As a result he healed his cancer and continues to enjoy a good quality of life. His book "Surviving Mesothelioma and Other Cancers: A Patient's Guide" describes what he did. More information is available at the website Surviving Mesothelioma

Enjoying My Cancer Place , Music Helps Me Through

After I lost my son to brain cancer (medulloblastoma), my main interests have included learning all I can about cancer and cancer treatments, and building helpful resources for patients and their families.

I realized that cancer patients need other patients for emotional and mental support, but also as a source of information, referrals, and resources. Every patient has something valuable to share. This community was designed to help make that sharing easier.

The organization that I manage Cancer Monthly provides a number of cancer resources.

Hi I am doing Gerson Therapy for lymphoma and recovering very well. I have about another 12 months to go on the diet but yes it seems that natural therapies are the most successful.

I am a new member to this site as well as to the Cancer World. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April of this year and after first surgery refused further treatment until the pain was so severe I could not bear it. I am now on a trial study of Sutent and Taxol which I believe is doing much more damage than the disease. I have always been interested in natural medicine but it seems expensive. I hope this sight will help me and my shared experience will help others. I am not really a "tech type" person so I hope I can learn to navagate the site well. Looking forward to the shared knowledge and experience.

I understand the feeling of watching a lived one suffer. I also know when you feel hopeless it hurts even more. I am a survivor of Hodgkins Lymphoma and I want to help other people who are affected by it or the ones they love. I am willing to be a helping hand to those in need.

Michael: In February 2008, I was diagnosed with a primary lung carcinoma. I underwent surgery (lobectomy) right lower lobe. It turned out to be an adenocarcinoma. 1.8 x 1.6 cm. I took cat scans both (3) and (6) six months postoperative. The (6) month scan revealed a mass on my right adrenal gland 4.0 x2.5 cm suspicious for metastatic disease. The lung surgeon said that chemo and radiation was not necessary. He said the surgery was a cure. I am now faced with adrenal surgery (laparoscopic surgery) to remove both the mass and the adrenal gland. This is a very rare and very aggressive cancer. I have searched the Internet and archives and cannot find much information. Any knowledge that you or your friends can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
