Hello Chatar,

Welcome to My Cancer Place. Even though the site was only launched last Friday, we already have people signed-up from ten different countries. This is quite exciting.

The site is designed to facilitate the sharing of emotional support and information by connecting people who all have one thing in common, they are dealing with cancer.

For example, when you browse members and find someone you would like to communicate with, you have different options:

• You can communicate with them publicly (i.e. by posting a comment like this one);

• Or, using their “Contact Panel” (it is in blue), you can:

o Send them a private e-mail message,

o Invite them to be a friend which means they would be part of your own personal network and you can send bulletins that only your friends will see,

o Invite them to join a group.

That’s why you should check your own messages occasionally under “My Account”

Also because people are looking for others with similar experiences, please feel free to update your profile to select cancer type, occupation, and perhaps post a picture and add something about yourself in the “About Me” section. This will make it easier for others to initiate contact with you.

And, of course, if you want to take full advantage of what this site has to offer, you can always add your own web page and pictures, join or start a group or forum, create a poll, post an event, send a bulletin to friends in your network, and invite as many other people to join as you would like.
